Class Description:
This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the graphics and photography industries; enhanced practical experiences in computer generated art and text, graphic design, graphic production, electronic design skills, preparation of electronic layouts and illustrations, and electronic scanning; and development of specialized skills in multimedia presentations, planning, management, finance, technical and product skills. The aforementioned skills are needed to enter careers in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication fields; specifically as a Digital Photographer, Information Technology Assistant, Production Assistant, Digital Assistant Designer, Graphic Designer, and Multi-Media Designer.
Instructional strategies for this program must include methods that require students to acquire; 1. Digital-Age Literacy - basic scientific, mathematical, and technological literacies - visual and information literacies - cultural literacy and global awareness; 2. Inventive Thinking - adaptability/ability to manage complexity - curiosity, creativity, and risk taking - higher order thinking and sound reasoning; 3. Effective Communication - teaming, collaboration, and interpersonal skills - personal and social responsibility - interactive communication; 4. High Productivity - ability to prioritize, plan, and manage for results - effective use of real-world tools - relevant, high-quality products.
Class Requirements:
The following will determine your class grade:
1. Participation in all class activities:
(i.e. activities, discussions, and individual and group projects)
2. Assignment grade is based on the completion of all assignments/projects, your effort, and the creative idea.
3. Research Papers completed in APA formatting style will be a requirement each semester. Students will do research combining Digital Design, Photography, and Business. Students will even be allowed to return the research paper a week before it is due for an extra credit grade as well.
4. Online quizzes and tests for Adobe Software products.

Raise Hand when needing to ask a question
Hand in all work on due date
Clean up desk at the end of class
Turn off Computer and Monitor at the end of the day
Rule 3 I will respect school property
Computer, Monitor, Mouse, Keyboard
Digital SLR camera, cords, memory card, bag, straps, lenses, lens caps
Rule 4 I will respect others
Speak to others in a positive manner
Work collaboratively with teammates
Complete portion of team assignments on time
Behavior:
Failure to follow these class rules and those written in your student hand book will result in:
Step 1: verbal warning
Step 2: parent contact, with Step 1 of the referral process
Step 3: Referral

Students must write down their assignments in their planners. Due to little “board” space, students will receive an electronic file of upcoming projects, events, and assignments. Students ARE RESPONSIBLE for transferring these important dates and information to their planners.
